You can use a longer cable
For example, I need another 3 inch cable so it can sit right under the stand of my laptop and also reach the port and plug into the USB port on the back. Of course this is just my setup but I remember reading other people saying similar things before I bought it and I have to agree. Otherwise it works as intended. I can connect all the peripherals I need, plus an Ethernet cable, to my MacBook with two ports on the left.

- I have a Dell XPS laptop and when it goes to sleep I can't wake it up using my mouse over the Belkin dock.
