If you are looking for a quiet fan, look elsewhere. I don't know what kind of rock people live under, but the fan sucks in air and expels it, that's how they work. They will make noise. At the same time, this thing pumps a lot of air with very little noise. I have a smaller desktop fan that doesn't circulate nearly the same amount of air at a much higher noise level. This fan won't be a noise generator, it's not like an industrial box fan if you can't hear someone talking when it's blowing. If you have it in the TV room I doubt you'll even hear it, I can barely hear it when I'm playing and it's 2-3 feet from me and blowing at high speed. Great at night, helped, slept well, kept cool and didn't wake me up from the noise. The only thing I have minor complaints about is that there is sometimes a creaking noise when swinging, but that's not even a real problem. This is a champion, I heartily recommend it.
