Stainless steel is ideal for cedar in joists PT

The deck is complete and I have some tips for those looking to use these screws. Camo Marksman worked well with 2-3/8 stainless steel screws. I went through 1" cedar in joists, which was pretty chewed up compared to previous standard screw-in boards. Biggest tip is to use a 6" 7/64th drill bit to pre-drill. Installation is surprisingly easy, using a cordless drill to pre-drill and a cordless impact driver with a camo bit to drive the screw. Second tip: Don't press too hard on softer woods like cedar. Clicking on it leaves a small outline of the camo tool. If it doesn't cut through properly, use washers/clamps instead of pressing on the tool. I first used a second person to move the board back and a fourth to get the gap right for the tool, but was able to do it myself after switching to screwing. From one end of the board to the other using clamps/wedges to help with the gaps. I leaned on the board with one hand next to the tool to make sure the board was snug against the joist and it worked well.
