Great little stick sensor

I ordered this for my 73 year old mother and she mastered this herd finder in just 30 minutes. This is the first time I've gifted her an instrument that hasn't had frantic 4am calls asking me how to turn it on, asking for a photo of directions, or trying to hand it to a screaming lady explaining quietly over Zoom - because it's disrespectful to raise your voice during their babble. The only thing I had to explain here was how to calibrate the viewfinder for different materials, which only took 5 minutes. Now for the assessment: The tool is also very ergonomic for small hands. The only problem is accidentally hitting the calibration button as it's right in the thumb hole. The readings are easy to understand and mom loved that the center line extended up and down so she could make 90 degree marks. Once the approximate area of the peak is determined, multiple cycles of calibration, scanning, and iteration are required before you achieve accuracy. This is a great little tool for the price. If I needed a Studfinder in the future I would buy one.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Good but not great
