I read many other reviews before ordering and found that there are far more people who say the product works as it should than those who say it doesn't. I unpacked the parts, read the instructions and connected them accordingly. The instructions say that if I'm using a switched outlet to plug into the top connector, the light should be green. (If I plugged it into the bottom port it would go straight to an unswitched outlet and turn red) Anyway, I pointed the remote at the receiver and nothing. There is a blue indicator light on the main unit that should light up when a signal is received from the remote control. I took a newer remote and tried it, same thing. I then went back to the (negative) reviews and found several others where the devices didn't work right away. This morning I called C2G for assistance. Initially, the girl said to contact Revane to return it. I wasn't very happy trying them, hit and miss. She asked if I would like to speak to support. I explained how the device works. The guy asked what color the light was when the device was online. I answered green. It said that this port is dead (i.e. it is no longer connected to the device). I told him I connected it as instructed. He said they printed out many instructions and didn't change them even though they changed the product. Plugged the device into a different port, the red light came on and the blue light flashed when I pressed the remote button. So the unit works as it should, but I had a small hiccup that could result in receiving an RMA, repackaging and shipping it back to Revain and then receiving another unit with the exact same issue. As a business owner, I understand you don't want to throw away a bunch of manuals, but you could add an insert to let customers know that one of their links WILL NOT WORK! I think this may have been an issue with some of the negative reviews so take them with a grain of salt. Anyway, 4 stars anyway as it really works and it only took a quick phone call with a bit of persistence.
