Can make a very sharp knife

A whetstone can probably make a knife sharper than you've ever seen it in person, but it takes a little time to learn how to do it right. If you don't have the patience and just want to swipe your knives through something a few times and hope for the best, this probably isn't for you. But if you hate dull knives and are willing to watch a few videos to get the hang of it, your knives can be as good as new (or even better) and a lot sharper than the stupid things you drag your knife through . How should I know? I've tried different things for the lazy and impatient because I'm lazy. They usually sharpen your knives a bit when they're really dull, but they just don't get that sharp. You'll mash tomatoes if you want to chop them clean, rip off the onion skins, and slice the flesh. Dull knives really are terrible. Chances are you've tried these gizmos too and decide you want to play around with a whetstone because you've been frustrated with their performance too. I suggest you watch some videos on how to use a whetstone. If you decide that sharp knives pay off, this knife will not disappoint. Having two grains on both sides of the same stone is handy for saving space and only wetting/drying one stone. While the little wooden stand looks nice, it does tend to slip a bit on very smooth surfaces - but as far as whetstones go, they're very easy to use. The last thing to consider is granularity. These numbers are good if you don't have people using your knives as hammers and you only want to resharpen your knives a few times a year or more. If you have kids or guests who do silly things with knives, you might also need a 400 grit rock to clean up the damage before switching to 1000 on that rock to make it sharp, and then to 6000, to make him ridiculously hot. 1000 grit takes a long time when the knife is really smashed by people mindlessly cutting pottery, trying to cut through bone like a machete, and other things that people who never sharpen knives do to them.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Very expensive
