I used to buy Pediped shoes for my kids because they were wide and soft and kept their feet in their natural state. Ever since I found these shoes, which are more than half the price, I've been very satisfied. Velcro straps don't sit perfectly where they should but they do the job and I can't complain about anything else as my son won't be wearing them for a few months before he outgrows them. In the photo it looks like the strap is cutting into his skin, but it's not at all - he just has chubby ankles. My son is 8 months old with chubby wide feet that are bigger and 6-12 months fits perfectly; 12-18 months was too long, but it will probably be just right in a few months.
