I had a fireplace insert installed in my fireplace. Both the plumber and the propane gas installer refused to drill the chimney for the fuel line. I knew I could do it myself so I ordered two 18" masonry drill bits since I needed to drill 15" masonry total. Using a hammer drill I first used a 1/2" bit which drilled out in under 3 minutes. I followed 3/4. In a minute I was done and ready to put my tools away. The carbide tips were untouched. I I am very satisfied with their performance and would recommend them.
