Does the job it was designed to do

Thanks to previous homeowners, my house has coax cables *everywhere*: bedroom, bathroom, solarium, fireplace. Of course the cables have to be stapled because I can't use the existing runs to bring out the new Ethernet. Well, we were fed up with our consumer Wi-Fi router, so I opted for a more robust system (Ubiquiti UniFi, which I know from work, but that's not what I'm reviewing here) and got this one more PoE-compatible coax adapter. to get to the other end of the house to get a proper Wi-Fi network. I get a full connection at 100 Mbps, although of course I would like 1000 Mbps. I'm assuming the limitation is coax related as I couldn't find a gigabit equivalent (maybe I just didn't search hard enough). This is normal as my internet connection is 100Mbps anyway, but it would be nice if the internal speed was higher. I also wish there was an F style option as I had to buy BNC ends to replace the F connectors on my cable. It also worked with a possibly included adapter, but it was still annoying. At the "closed" end I screwed the box directly to the floor joist. Works great, does its job well. However, the "far" end was a bit tricky as it's inside the wall. This box *didn't* fit in a single box, so I used an open frame wall box (because it's low voltage) to let all the connections hang in the wall. It seems to be working fine, although I'm not sure if I should be concerned.

Pros
  • Still like everyone
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
