Review on πŸ”¬ Hanna Instruments HI721 Portable Colorimeter by Andy Jolley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only downside I have to say is that they don't come with many powder packets and a third bottle would be great.

This little thing has helped my aquaponic system to grow green and lush plants. The measured values deviate from each other by a few hundredths, but this is completely sufficient for my needs. The only negative I have to say is that they don't come with many powder sachets and a third bottle would be great. Updated 09/27/16. A Hanna representative unexpectedly contacted me a few weeks ago to see if my checker was working properly and if I needed any additional reagents. I didn't realize that this level of service existed. If it hadn't happened to me, I'm not sure I would have believed it. In addition to contacting me, Rindy Egan from the Texas office offered a cheaper reagent pack that works in the verification program (HI 93721-0). Now an update on how things have held up. I mentioned it in the original post, I broke one of the bottles last week and will call Rindy to help me again. The examiner worked well for me. One note, I've switched to rechargeable batteries and the reviewer doesn't like the ones I'm using. In order for them to work, I need to make sure the baseplate isn't screwed all the way in, which works as long as I don't put a lot of pressure on the baseplate. Regular batteries work fine, but I'm cheap so I'll look into mild handling. After this experience I would like to add a 6th star.

Pros
  • The device can be calibrated with water without purchasing additional solutions
Cons
  • Disappear
