My old jack broke after about 15 years of use. It gradually became less effective and more difficult to use. Finally completely given up. I used it primarily to service the Toro Zero Radius mower. Because the Toro is so big and heavy, I needed a way to get under it safely: hand-sharpening the blades, changing the tires, and re-installing the drive belt when it became loose. The lift was also the best way to get under the mower to remove the clumps of grass that form when the grass is wet. And this year, Southwest Florida has seen a record amount of rain. This Arcan Service Jack was well packaged with good documentation. When I started assembling I wasn't aware there was another tag in the box so I was wondering about the wire that seemed to be holding the grip socket to the bottom frame. After looking at it for a while I realized the wire must have been part of the shipping protection and I just tapped it with a large screwdriver and a hammer. It rumbled through the whole garage and nearly hit me. Little did I know it was under pretty good pressure. The instruction manual didn't mention this wire, so I looked inside the shipping container again and found a warning label on the bottom. Of course it was about the wire I had just removed and it was pretty clear how dangerous removing it incorrectly could be. Please note this warning before removing the wire! After inserting the handle into the socket and tightening the screw, I pumped the handle 10 times to raise it to its maximum height. Then I turned the crank to the left to drain the hydraulics and lower the jack to the level of the base. This thing is well built, fairly heavy, and elevates my lawn mower a bit higher in the air to solve the maintenance issues I'm having. It makes my old jack look like the cheap piece of metal it was. I just didn't know until I got this new Arcana model. Very happy with this device.
