I was really drawn to the look of the Black/Black Walnut color scheme. I ordered them in 11.5 wide. When I opened the box, they were really appealing boots. I just love the look. The craftsmanship was great, the leather very solid, they were symmetrical; everything looked good.I have had them 2 months and have put about 100 miles on them; about half that distance on trails, and half on pavement. I love them as walking shoes. They won't be any good on challenging terrain, because they just are not designed for that, and the wedge soles are not meant for that, but on side walks, and mild to moderate trails, they are really nice. They were stiff for the first 30 miles or so, but never painful. Now after 100 miles, they are just getting softer and softer on my feet and ankles, yet they still feel solid as a good boot should.I also have a pair of these in "trail/crazy horse," which I picked up from a different outlet. I believe they are factory seconds, because the assembly is not nearly as good on those. The crazy horse leather is much softer and seems thinner than on the Black/Black walnut boots, but maybe that is just on my pair.so take this with a grain of salt. The wedge sole on these boots seems pretty good, but the traction is not so good on wet surfaces. I definitely consider these to be dry weather boots. They breathe really well in warmer weather. I am reluctant to put any leather conditioner on them, because they seem to breathe so well. If you need water proof boots, I would get boots that are intended to be water proof. One note: the laces that come with them are really thin. I made some really long paracord laces, long enough to wrap around the back of the boot then tie in front for a good "heel lock." The paracord laces are infinitely more comfortable, as they distribute pressure on the foot and ankle much better.
