Makes tidying up the apartment in the basement a little less Sisyphus

Functionally, I live in a hole in the ground. It's not a nasty, dirty, wet hole full of worms and foul smells, and unfortunately it's not a comfort hole either. In fact, it's more of a dry, bare, sandy dump with no place to sit or eat, a basement apartment that was regularly rented out to college students. As a result, dust, cobwebs, and pieces of the ever-crumbling walls that my landlord has tried to fix to no avail end up on my spartan wood or tile floors, and I have to sweep fairly regularly. Like most people used to college life, I completed this task with the cheapest plastic scoop I could find at the grocery store. This resulted in stepping on and breaking several dustpans and I was generally dissatisfied with my dustpan experience. After trying about three different plastics I decided to invest in something stronger and I was very happy with the results. This thing is big, easy to clean, and immune to my clumsy tendency to trip over it. Its rim seems to hit the ground more effectively than plastic pans with the odd rubber band and overall it's just a joy to use.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
