I needed heel guards for my outdoor wedding on grass in Hawaii. I didn't know what alternatives there were, so despite the negative reviews, got these. They fell off on my mom's heels during the rehearsal and despite more than ten people searching, we figured they probably got buried in the dirt. Unfortunately, I still had difficulty walking down the aisle on grass even with the heel guards in, though they might have provided some protection (I wouldn't know what it would have been like otherwise). At the end of the night of my reception, the heel guards were still on my shoes, but I discovered that my heels had somehow got dislodged and stuck through one of the side openings, instead of the heel guard facing down. Not sure when that happened. If you're desperate, you could try these (and ideally be able to test them out before the event), although they're not cheap for how cheaply made they are.
