This is an expensive lighter but I figured it would be worth it if it lasts. *sigh* I didn't have any problems at first, but after less than a month of regular use, the switch position is quirky. Theoretically, you press the safety switch, click three times, the little blue "Ready" light comes on, and press the top or bottom power button again to create a spark. Sometimes it works that way, but other times it's not "done" until you've gone through the sequence a few times. Sometimes the orange plastic button doesn't click properly and you have to wiggle it. Sometimes the bottom button works, sometimes it turns everything off and you start over. In short, good idea, nice design, only the switch should be much more reliable. I am looking for a permanent lighter to replace a disposable lighter.
