Review on πŸš› 2010 Dodge Ram 6.7L Fuel Filter Cummins Mopar OEM - Guaranteed Authentic by Bill Tripi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

REQUIRED purchase for 2010 Ram 6.7 Cummins Diesel

I'm usually not an OE Nazi. However, in this particular case I originally bought a crossover alternative from a Car Quest dealer and after removing the original filter and comparing it directly to the aftermarket filter I noticed that the two filters did not look the same. I also noticed that the inside bottom edge of the standard filter has an oval shape that matches the similar oval shape in the bottom of the filter housing (I'm not kidding). The aftermarket filter was just round. I couldn't help but wonder at the unfiltered fuel seeping through the bottom of the filter and clogging the injectors (and possibly ruining my turbo). So I decided to put the old (dirty) filter back in and wait for the Revain purchase. The new filter fully corresponds to the original. The guy from Car Quest swears by the cross reference and says he has no complaints. but i'm still interested. The box with this filter said it only fits the 2010 Dodge Ram 6.7L. It doesn't say it will fit 2011 or 2012 models as some other reviewers have stated. I will definitely call the dealer for the exact part number before ordering 2011 or 2012 RAM. Note that you will need a 1-1/8" socket (yes, a 1-1/8" SAE socket) to remove the filter. , no metric equivalent). A large crescent wrench will not work as three plastic flanges surround the socket forcing you to use the socket. Don't overtighten! The filter housing is marked '30 Nm' (Newton metres) which is 22 ft-lbs (meaning it is very lightly tightened as it is a plastic housing with a rubber gasket not a nut). I use a torque wrench. Also note that it takes quite a while for the fuel drain valve to open. When I first changed the filter I was impatient and pulling out the old filter quickly created a vacuum sucking up the remaining fuel and spilling it all over the garage floor.
