Review on πŸ”₯ Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug 2, 14 oz, Black - App Controlled Heated Coffee Mug with Extended 80 min. Battery Life - Enhanced Design by Manju Lett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A bit pricey in my opinion but the product is excellent.

Seems to be more expensive than it should be but at least it does what it says on the tin and is of good quality as far as I can tell. You can't say that about most things these days. I've only had it for a few days, but so far it's working perfectly. **UPDATE** After contacting Ember customer service for help, I found out that EVERY time a cup with liquid inside is placed on the charging dock, it will not charge, just keep the current charge level. I was told that this is to protect the battery from overheating. Now that it's known it doesn't matter, but beforehand I was confused as to why my mug wasn't charging even when it only had a few more sips of coffee and was set to a lower level. temp.TL;DR The cup will not charge above its current level if it contains liquid and you place it on the charging station. It also has a 2 hour auto shut off which kicks in if left in place for 2 hours with no movement. Apparently there are accelerometers in the cup, I wasn't expecting it smart girl! Still a great mug, haven't measured the battery life but I'd say it's around 1 hour or so, not sure I'll last a full 80 minutes of it but like I said I haven't exactly timed it yet fixed , maybe it really depends. I've found that cocoa should have a different heat capacity than coffee because every time I pour cocoa into a cup I have to set the temperature about 10-15 F higher than coffee to get the same temperature in my mouth . Still a great mug but still overpriced. If the 10 ounce and 14 ounce Ember Mug 2 cost $60 and $80 respectively, I think that would be perfect.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
