This unit has arrived and I have downloaded 40TB of hard drive storage to run it in RAID-10. In the first month everything went great. The device then started emailing me a few times a day to let me know it was shutting down. I opened a support case and a community forum topic. The support case was useless. Community forum members looked at the logs and found that the ethernet port I was using went down. They suggested trying a different port. This solution worked great. A month later the exact same problem appeared. The NAS shut down and got stuck in a boot loop. At this point I have added more information to my support request and requested an RMA. I paid for expedited shipping and was over the moon when the replacement arrived. The photo in this review is of the device right after I took it out of the box. It is in much worse condition than the block it replaces. I am currently on the phone with Netgear support to find out what went wrong and if there is anything they can do to salvage this wasted purchase. At this point, I manually set up my own RAID array using one of my existing Linux servers and migrated all data to that machine. The drives in the migrated array are identical to those on the ReadyNAS. They work great and the server doesn't have random shutdowns. Avoid this product. Otherwise the support is useless. If you roll a few bad dice and pull a lemon from your purchase, Netgear will happily replace it with an even worse lemon.
