Nice paper

First of all, all Leda papers are great. I usually use a mixed media pad as I find myself using a lot of humid environments, but after hearing suggestions that watercolor paper would be better I decided to compare Leda's cold pressed and hot pressed watercolors side by side. Paper to see which handles the wet material. Note: I haven't tested it with real watercolor - I'm just testing the texture and how it handles wet materials in general. The hot-pressed leaf seemed a little lighter to me than its cold-pressed brother. The surface was very smooth (no teeth) compared to cold pressing, as it should be. Here are the results so far (hot press on the left, cold press on the right, otherwise finished identically): I covered each sheet with a layer of white plaster and then pressed into each stencil to add extra texture. Once the gesso was dry I started applying the acrylic paint using a gel sheet and a brier. The paint has been misted to keep it on the wetter side. The background color was applied with gel sheeting and smoothed onto the page with a pick. Darker colors came from both the gel sheet and the bush itself. You can see in the lower right corner of each where I wiped some of the color off with a baby wipe. Surprisingly, cold-pressed paper seemed to keep the ink wet longer, but at the cost of warping. Very wet watercolors would likely be a problem, although the tooth is certainly beautiful. Definitely a very good paper for the price. The only question is which type you want. FYI, mixed media paper has a lot of teeth but is very good at holding wet materials. Suggest trying them all.
