Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Whiteside Router Bits 6022 Diameter - Premium Quality Bits for Precise Routing by Dave Cavazos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Premium cutter for edge processing of doors with euro hinges. No more reason to use cheap bits.

This profile (Whiteside 6022) is ideal for Euro-Hinges where you need to be careful not to get caught in the hinge hole when running the profile along the edges of the door. This batch of doors was just under 3/4 inch tall when we did the wide belt sanding. The Euro hinge hole is 35mm, located 1/8" from the edge of the door, with a hole depth of 7/16". As you can imagine I was a bit apprehensive about getting a full depth profile without hitting the euro hole. A test pattern showed I was ready to go. Whiteside did a damn good job designing the profile of the bit to clear the euro holes. This is the perfect bit for Euro doors. If you are interested in any type of woodworking, you should use the highest quality bits you can get your hands on. This cutter is a great choice for the serious hobbyist carpenter and a must have for the professional workshop. But first - I'm a little tired of hearing from people bragging about $10 router bits - I'll explain why this is false frugality. Let's think about it - you can buy Beats for $10, but what do you get? Poor quality carbide, thin carbide, I've even seen them lined new out of the box. Are they well balanced? How hot are they? Is it worth the risk of burning expensive and high quality hardwood? We all know how difficult it is to manually remove sand burn stains from wood. Are you really saving? It's all a gamble and it may or may not pay off. As for me, I've lost several times in this game. That's where this bit comes into play. I own a professional shop and we only use few brands of cutters because we don't have time to fix problems caused by bad cutters. When you take this cutter out of your pocket, you will immediately feel the quality and craftsmanship of these cutters. It's just fine. That thick carbide, general build quality, and terribly sharp cutting edges (I think these are the sharpest bits I've ever used). I love that this racket is made in the USA! Pros: Perfect profile for Euro hinges (35mm hinges) Terribly sharp out of the box Thick carbide (they can be sharpened multiple times) Excellent workmanship Excellent balance Made by USACons: Maybe the packaging is the little pouch they come in , in order. However, I like the hard protective case that you see on the "red" brand cutters. When we need a cutter in our shop we always look to Whiteside first, if they don't have it we go down the list.
