Review on Thermo Tec 15003 Turbo Insulator by Peter Mendoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Homemade insulator but definitely does the job

It was exactly what I was hoping for. These are multiple layers of thick insulating material (similar to fiberglass). A non-metallic reflective material is used as the first layer, onto which a metallic material with a reflective surface is applied. Comes with basic instructions on how to cut it to fit your turbo (or other) application. The final cut is that the heat penetrates the rest of the material under my hood and I was able to shape it to fit my turbo setup exactly (weird shape). It frays a little at the edges when you tear it apart, but you can clean it. Good enough with scissors. You essentially "thread" the material onto a thin piece of metal wire (almost as thick as a paper clip). I don't know how to sew, but I figured it out pretty quickly. It's not that bad. Tip: I suggest compressing the material into an accordion shape and piercing the wire. You'll see what I mean when you try threading the metal through the ceiling to apply it to the turbine.
