Maybe because I'm Australian I grill a lot - nothing beats a medium rare steak on a barbie (no shrimp - but if it were shrimp). In any case, that's why I take my outdoor cooking utensils seriously. When I saw these pliers with a built-in flashlight, I thought it was a great idea and wanted to try it. This is a high quality product. I personally like the locking mechanism, which allows you to open and close the pliers by releasing the little red handle next to the handle. In addition, the handles are designed to fit your hand snugly and turn the meat very easily. The main attraction is of course the flashlight - it's quite bright and does a good job of illuminating the hob directly on the dish being prepared. My main cooking area is lit, but the light on the cooking surface is actually helpful. The instructions say the tongs are dishwasher safe, but remember to remove the flashlight first (think some people need to know that?), but I usually hand wash all grilling supplies. You can buy cheaper pliers that will work, but a flashlight, while seeming a little useless, is actually useful.
