Cannot be installed directly under a cabinet. The screws require them to be installed under something that has some type of stud. The bottom of my closet was deep enough. (I planned the closet lighting). So I bought steel L corners (https://www.amazon.com/review/review-your-purchases/?asin=B07QQJZ4XY&channel=ec_non_dgc_srl-thankyou&ref_=ryp_hz_thnk_l_13), attached them to the wall stud and screwed the 2"( nominal) (8" x 8") piece of wood in steel corner (other side L) and cabinet. Then attach the monitor arm to the wood square. My cabinet sits 24" above the countertop, like a table. I would have liked it to be longer , it's currently much closer to the cabinet than it is to the countertop, making it a pain to look at the monitor while you're working.
