No Semaphore Timeout Error on Dell XPS 8700 PC; Works fine at first, then randomly disconnects

I can report that on a 2014 Dell 8700 XPS desktop, this case does not have the semaphore timeout issue that some external cases/authors have. This does not guarantee that you will not experience this on your PC. This is a conflict between the SATA to USB bridge controller in the case and your SATA/USB controller on your PC motherboard. Usually the only way to fix this problem is to replace the motherboard or the case. Because replacing the entire PC is cheaper and easier than just the motherboard, it's not as easy or cheap as just replacing the case. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure if your PC is having this problem is to try this case. EDIT: 2018-06-10 - My rating changed It seemed to work fine, but after more thorough testing with different drives, media and on different PCs it has a fatal bug that makes it impossible for me to recommend this device. It randomly disconnects from the device. The drive's lights keep blinking to indicate it's doing something, but ImgBurn's actual write/verify speed is 0.0x. If you undo an operation on ImgBurn, ImgBurn will remain in an infinite loop until you turn off the case. This can and has resulted in me wasting a recordable disc due to lost communication with the device. This was done on a Dell XPS 8700 and 8930, with LG and a Pioneer burner, on DVD+RW and BD-R. So the problem is in the body. This device worked fine for a while, and then this started. I don't know if that means the device has always done this, and I'm just glad it didn't before. Or if this device is defective or this device is not of very good quality. In any case, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product more. Next time I will try the OWC Mercury Pro. I just tried this with two different Pioneer BD-R 2209 drives and the same thing happens. In this case, the first attempt to write a BD-R to a newer 2209 lost communication with the drive. At first glance it seems like a decent product, but careful study and testing shows it's a pretty poor design. And right after the above update, I might have to reconsider this thing entirely. This can be due to a bad USB cable. I got these communication problems and ended up getting a semaphore timeout error. Nobody has ever shown themselves with this body. So I tried replacing the OWC case, but Windows didn't recognize the device. So I plugged another USB cable into another USB port and Windows recognized the device. I plugged this new cable into the old port where the old USB cable was and Windows recognized the device. So it wasn't the port, it was the cable. As far as I know, a bad USB cable can theoretically cause connection problems with a USB device. So I have to take a closer look and revise my rating. Cable. Problems with this case are either with the case itself, or with the Pioneer 2209 used with it, or with the latest 1.51 firmware for the 2209. I doubt it's the firmware because the 2nd case seems to work fine with the 2209 what bothers me is this Vantec's fault. body more.
