Review on 🐠 Seachem Purigen 100 ml. Bag: Ultimate Aquarium Fish Tank Filter Media for Effective Filtration by Samantha Davis

What to do with small aquariums?

I love Purigen and what it does to make my water clear BUT Seachem seriously needs to make it in smaller bags or make smaller bags sold separately. Small/nano aquariums are very popular these days, so I'm surprised that Purigen pre-made bags don't come in different sizes. and after doing this for 1 year I no longer want to stuff that large bag into the filter compartment where it is impossible to let it lay flat and therefore adequately fill the space at the top of my filter and ensure smooth/full water flow . That. It's always lumpy and crumbles no matter how hard I try to fold the excess fabric up or down or turn the bag inside out anyway. After a couple of days, the crumpled bag begins to brown in the exposed places, then I have to pick it up and move it, and the dirt falls out, polluting the aquarium. Due to the way it is laid out inside there are large gaps around the bag which means my water stays clear for days and then I have to turn and rearrange this huge bag. For me, it's not worth fighting and stressing about something that should be easy. I use the poly filter now, THIS IS THE FUNNIEST POLISHING PAD on the planet! It's very expensive, but I can cut 6 2x2.5 precision spacers out of a sheet that fit in my filter box like they were made specifically for it. I use 2 at the top of the filter media and one next to the intake pipe. I can't even put words to describe how clear my water is! It doesn't even look like there's water in the tank! When the pads turn dark brown I change them and NOTHING falls out of the pads and fouls my tank. Unfortunately poly filter pads are not reusable so replacing them once a week can be very expensive BUT I am more than willing to pay the price to keep my aquarium water pristine and crystal clear. Until Seachem starts making Purigen in smaller pouches I won't be buying it again. I give the product itself 5 stars but the fact that Seachem misses out on a large percentage of the aquarium market by producing smaller bags makes me give 3 stars to Purigen which is sold in bags. I know Purigen is sold in bulk (not in a bag), but making your own Purigen bags creates other problems; I can't find the 2x2.5 media packs I need and have read many many reviews of the many many media packs that Purigen is leaking out of because it's that good and definitely won't stay in tights like some suggest. I think Seachem would sell a ton more Purigen if they either made it in different bag sizes or sold different mesh bag sizes separately. Funny that they don't.
