Used with Sony PS-HX500 to transcode my collection to high bitrate PCM. Excellent sound quality, far better than Audio Technica's crappy cartridges. It's easy to set up and get started considering I've only had a plug and play style linear tracking player before. Some emphasis on the high frequencies. However, the brightness decreases after a few listens and overall the sound is very natural and lively. It's definitely better than the cartridge in my other turntable, and that was relatively comparable to the Pickering cartridge that I eventually had to replace due to age. Ultimately, I know how difficult it is to evaluate someone else's subjective opinion of how a sound sounds. , especially with things as disparate as turntables, cartridges, and styluses. Let's just objectively agree: if you're in my position with the above player, feel free to upgrade to this Ortofon. This is several light years better than the standard cartridge. If your ears can't tell the difference right away, you'll be fine with a CD or MP3 and should save some money and not bother with turntables and vinyl. ;-)
