The on/off button is handy, but I've noticed that when I press the buttons occasionally I get a slight jerk, as if the device wasn't grounded. There are only 3 wires, top, bottom and power. I screwed small SS studs to the side of my motor. Both up and down you give a boost by touching something on the boat (pontoon). I'm not sure if my switch is faulty or what, but it's a surprise when it happens.
