I attached it to my bandsaw to cut as soon as I got it and it worked like magic. I bought the top of the extension as I usually use larger pieces - my only complaint was that it was excruciatingly difficult to swap out the black section - for me this is minor but once it's in place you should some Time be good - if you damage it by hitting the blade or something like that. Be sure to watch online videos on how best to use it, it will help you. Go to Bow-Products.com and then search for Guide Pro, there are videos that will answer almost all of your questions. Once you understand all this, it's easy to use. The black bar is solid and doesn't scratch, I've run a fairly expensive koa with the Guide Pro and the results have been fantastic. The pressure he applies consistently to the end of the board and the material he uses are such that I'm sure he won't damage my blade on contact. When using it, I felt that the feed rate was a bit faster and I could focus on the workpiece and not worry about holding it tight to the fence. It's a little tricky to "lock" it tight - the piece you cut essentially needs to be in position for it to stay stable. This is normal when working with something short and quite painful when working with a 12" board that needs to be cut. My only concern is that the Guide Pro truss rod isn't included, for the price I think it should be. The rod should allow you to use Guide Pro more effectively on the flute of your saw, and also allow you to use Guide Pro on a router, table saw, or table saw (according to Bow). It is sold separately (again, I think it should be included here). With the price of the bar if you also buy the expansion it will set you back around $125. I personally think that's a lot more than it should be, I should be able to get all three for a Benjamin. Also (at the time of writing this) you can't buy a bar from Revain, you have to go to Bow-Products.com to find it. As for the price, if you're at all on the fence, just grab the Pro manual to get started and give it a try. I think you'll find it's a great addition to your woodworking arsenal, and if it shows up, check out the other two items. Despite the price I would buy it again - it works well for me.
