Update my review below. After just a few months, the seat broke at the point where the individual pieces of wood were joined (see photo). Note from the photos that the support pads on the underside of the seat are on either side of the joint, making it a weak point. They should take it off the market until they fix it. ________________________________________________ The box says "Solid Oak" but the description says "Honey Oak FINISH". Other reviewers said it's not oak, so who knows? Brass fittings (if they're brass) seem good, but as others have pointed out, removing them when corroded can pose a problem. Nylon would be a better (and probably cheaper) choice. The nuts are under the toilet. Nobody will see her. I've only heard from other reviews that the cone washers are at the bottom, between the toilet and the nuts. I don't think an instruction manual is necessary, but putting a drawing chart somewhere on the box would be easy enough.
