Review on ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Magellan TRX7 CS PRO Dual-Mount 7-Inch GPS Navigator with Rear-Facing Trail Camera, Black by Daniel Jenkins

Not as good as expected - Fairly disappointed

Off-road capability is good. Forget using it to navigate the streets (I give it ONE star for that feature). Map detail is pretty poor, especially when using street navigation. If you search for an address using the street navigation search function, you have a 75% chance of getting a "No results found" response. It's very handy for off-roading, but when navigating the trail it pretty much draws a green line and you follow the green line with no map detail - super easy! The Android tablet itself, i.e. the operating system, is also very sensitive and difficult to navigate. It freezes all the time and you have to turn it off and on again and again to get it to defrost. Planning a route or searching for something with a portable device is nearly impossible due to the freezing conditions. You'll have to do pretty much all your mapping work and plan an accompanying website to load into your handheld when you sync, since the tablet is very sensitive to freezing. I think Magellan made the mistake of using the lowest spec Android tablet software to run this device. The operating system in the tablet itself is terrible. The zoom function (shrinking and expanding the screen) is terrible, it doesn't keep the map in the top north position and when you use this function the whole screen starts to rotate. The social media upload feature didn't work at all. When I tried to enter my Facebook credentials for the first time, I received an error message stating that "the app is currently unavailable". I still can't get rid of this message and the social media option is dead in the water. Also, you can't use other features while in navigation mode because you'll get a flag notification that says "Do you want to stop the current navigation?" every time you try to look at something else. So when you started a route, for some reason you just can't touch the device for fear of having to complete the route navigation. In general, I want to buy a Garmin or other device that has both road and terrain maps. This is a big disappointment.
