Haven't had a chance to take it to the desert yet but so far I'm not disappointed with this purchase. My first impression was that it came with a very nice protective case. I had the opportunity to use it on my street in total darkness during a power outage in my area and the night vision was amazing. I really like that it's not just for viewing, you can also take photos or videos in color or infrared. It was also nice that an SD card was included. The only thing I literally didn't take with me was a tripod. I'm very happy to take it to the desert and see the wildlife.
