MSI support is terrible and advertises a scam

I had a nightmare dealing with MSI support via phone, email, website and twitter. They won't even answer if they don't want to. The goods are in order, I think there are no complaints against the seller. MSI is running a promotion to award a Steam Gift Card for purchasing a matching motherboard and processor. I jumped through their hoops by filling out an online form and providing photos of the serial number box labels as required by the form to receive a $40 gift certificate. They require purchase orders and box labels for both their product and their processor, which is weird. They declined my form and asked for photos of the products themselves with serial numbers. NOT WHAT YOUR SUBMISSION FORMS SAY! My computer was assembled at this point. The processor has a liquid cooling unit. I didn't spend that money sitting idle and not using it. It's unreasonable to expect someone to tear their PC build apart. I was able to get a picture of the serial number on the motherboard and their actual product and resubmit it using the label on the processor box (10600K). It was rejected again and asked me to provide a picture of the processor with a serial number, not a "color box" picture as they keep repeating. This is absurd because they received the serial numbers, my product is registered and they see it, but the processor is not their product. Twitter support advised me to email the marketing address. I have made. A week later I still hadn't received a reply. The web support ticket got me a direct email rep. I explained my frustration and problem in detail and was visibly upset. It gave me a single copy/pasted line from the original image of the "CPU, not color box" form rejection. Nothing else, nothing to address me as a buyer, nothing to express disappointment, nothing to show that he even read the letter. Twitter support refused to respond even to my request for company contact information. A renewed request for online help was never answered. I called support and was told the guy I emailed "that's all" and no one else can talk to me. The company washed away any semblance of customer support and acted with fraudulent intent in its advertising. This is the last MSI product I will buy as they just aren't willing to treat me respectfully even for a $40 sale. Your customer support is a joke.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
