Bought this coffee maker last winter when it got too cold to drink iced coffee. Last winter I was like, "Wow, that makes a huge mess, crazy." I didn't expect to have to spend nearly as much time as I spent cleaning this thing. What good is a fully automatic coffee machine if you have to clean it thoroughly after each use? As autumn approached, a hot cup of coffee cheered me on again this year. Once the machine started with just water and then tried to grind some beans to make a good pot. and how was last year? Half of the coffee goes in the carafe, half of the coffee on the stove/my kitchen counter. And the coffee that IS in the carafe is absolutely full of ground coffee. I think I'll go back to using a French press, which is a nuisance to clean, but not nearly as much of a hassle as this marvel of modern convenience/sarcasm.
