Pros and cons of window treatments

I bought Black Silver and Silver. The movies are of good quality for the price, but there are a few things I want to know before I buy them. They make the room much darker than expected so I ended up using only part of the silver to cover 25% of the windows and had to remove and discard the black silver. Pros Good quality for the price. Blocks UV rays very well. Offers excellent daytime privacy. It's relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it and have patience (I've added usage tips at the end). Cons Blocks UV rays so well that even on the sunniest days you can get almost no sunlight into a room with Black Silver. I can still see outside but the film is very dark making the room appear like a windowless room and I had to turn on the lights during the day. I was hoping that the silver film would solve the problem, but it still turned out to be darker than I had hoped. A sunny summer day turns into a rainy, overcast day. You should also remember that all blocked sunlight is reflected outwards. The sunlight reflected from the window onto my balcony was so bright that I needed an umbrella from the window when hanging out on the balcony. Put on gloves. I made the fatal mistake of leaving a fingerprint on the sticky side that will stay there forever. Use LOTS of water on BOTH surfaces - spray 3 times as much water as you think is enough and spray both the window and the film. The more water there is on both surfaces, the stronger the cohesive water. With enough water, the film will start to lie perfectly on the window without your intervention. All you have to do is gently squeeze the water out with a squeegee or credit card.
