I am very happy with this coffee maker but I have two issues that make me think I may have received a defective coffee maker. First, when I make coffee, the light flickers in the kitchen and in the bedroom next door. This is probably because it takes a significant amount of electricity to heat water quickly, but I've never had this problem with any other appliance, including a kettle. Second, the machine retains a lot of water in the tank after the brewing process. I use 20 ounces. Bottles of purified water for making coffee. If I were to drain the excess water, that amount would fill it almost to the 4 cup line, but if I don't drain the machine first, it fills to about 4⅓ cups, so it holds nearly 2 ounces. Water. This also means that if I want 4 cups of coffee, I have to fill the reservoir to about 4⅓ cups. I have emailed Oxo Support at the address provided in the user manual and have not received a response.
