I have had no problems with this product. The only issue wasn't with the seal retainer but trying to use the same rope for different sized gaps. I went with the 3/8" protective pad as it is neither too thin nor too thick. For some gaps that were much less than 3/8" I had to cut the rope in half with a frosted knife. For gaps much larger than 3/8" I turned the rope into basically 2-ply tape and got a pretty acceptable result with that. Or pre-measure each gap and buy several sizes of caulking liner. Or you can skip this entire step and end up using too much caulk. The choice is yours.
