Go to YouTube FIRST and find out what to do. If you are embarrassed to drill metal or have severe arthritis in your hands, this job is not for you. But if you've got good hands and don't mind steel power tools, it's fun. This is perfect for my 1999 F150. Works just like the original. I have three different electrical connectors, one of which is perfect for my truck. The ease of installation depends on your expectations. I knew what to do from some great YouTube videos. With this truck, you must first remove the door panels, interior trim, and weather protection. You will then need to remove the speaker to gain access to the motor. If your window is stuck in the up position, you're good to go. If it's stuck in the down position I'm not sure you'll have enough room. Do not attempt to drill out the rivets unless you are replacing the entire regulator. This part is just a motor and the rivets can be left. There are two indentations showing two of the three screws you need to access. You will need to drill a 1/2 inch hole in the sheet metal in each indentation. There is a third access screw, not a recess. You should measure the holes on the new motor to decide where to drill. After you drill, you'll find three screws (actually self-tapping screws with screw heads), which you then unscrew. I read that the regulator was pinching my fingers so I blocked the regulator levers with something but there was never a kickback or anything that could pinch my fingers. With the screws removed, all that remained was to stick your hand through the speaker hole and work with the motor. I don't think there was any particular involvement with any latching or anything, it's just that 21 years of having this motor bolted on meant it wouldn't just free fall off. When I put the new one in, there was no latch or hook mechanism to hold it in place while I screwed it back in (the motor comes with three new screws). I held it through the speaker hole with my right hand and used my fingers to tighten a screw and then partially tighten it. Now he could hang on this screw, which made it easier to partially install the second and third. Only after all three screws were in place did I tighten them all. (Also, prior to installation, I connected the motor end of the appropriate electrical connector while it was still visible). After it was plugged in and connected, I tried it and it worked on the first try. It will sound loud when the skin is completely removed, but once the door is reassembled it's like fresh from the factory. Great product and price.
