I bought this to look at the size characteristics of sub-millimeter stones. First, the maximum image size is about 10mm x 20mm. So if you buy it to map whole coins larger than 10mm, it won't work. Second, the magnification is a far cry from 1200x, more like 100x as others have suggested. This allowed me to see features I can't see with the macro lenses I have, and the LCD is decent, as is the backlight. Third, the micro USB to USB connector is defective because the end of the micro USB barely fits into the socket on the device. Others have mentioned it. When I fully inserted the connector, it stopped working fully. Fourth, my computers (MacBook) don't recognize this device even before the USB port completely fails. I wrote to the company and they had no solution other than repeating what the instructions said didn't work. Fifth, the images stored on the SD card are in a compressed square format as opposed to what appears on the screen. I couldn't find a way to change this. This is a disadvantage. So there is no way for me to get usable images from this device that only costs 100x. It could be useful, but it's just too cheaply made and inferior. Send back.
