This was the correct part for my 2000 GMC Sierra 5.3L. My truck had a significant oil leak and at first it appeared to be coming from the bell, leading me to think of a rear oil seal problem. Fortunately, YouTube came to the rescue. Oil leaked from the oil pressure sensor and entered the bell housing and the front of the gearbox before it was visible from below. Another clue was that at highway speeds, the pressure suddenly dropped about 20 psi from the previous reading. As others have said, buy a dedicated Lisle socket. It's very difficult to see what you're doing - you have to do a lot by touch. The local dealer wanted $98 for this part.
