This cutter is my first upright cutter with a raised plate. I built a fence much taller than a regular milled fence to provide extra support to keep the wood board on edge while cutting. Because this cutter is vertical it is much smaller than the equivalent horizontal cutter, so it works very well when using a smaller cutter motor. A horizontal router will likely require a 3hp router motor. Instead of the 2 1/4 hp I used and used. I recommend this attachment for typical milling work with raised inserts.
