Low resolution washed out HDR colors for MacBook Pro Catalina 10.15.4

LG LG 34WK95U-W / 34BK95U-W will NOT work as an HDR display with a maximum resolution of 5120 x 2160 with a MacBook Pro. It looks great as an ultrawide display without HDR. But if you want an HDR monitor for your MacBook Pro, don't buy this monitor. details below. As of Catalina 10.15.4, HDR actually degrades monitor colors and reduces resolution. HDR looks poor compared to being used as a standard 5120 x 2160 ultrawide display. HDR, which is only supported with DisplayPort 1.4, does not work properly on this monitor with macOS Catalina 15.5.4. 4: - When switching from DisplayPort version 1.2 (default) to 1.4 (required for HDR) when connected to a MacBook Pro, the LG display goes black and freezes. Switching from DP 1.2 to 1.4 only works if no MBP is connected. - Colors are less contrasting and washed out when using Catalina HDR mode. - In HDR mode, the maximum resolution is reduced to 3840 x 2160. This is a 16:9 format. Ratio, with black bars to the left and right of the display. LG and Apple need to do better driver optimization for macOS before this monitor can become a true 5120 x 2160 HDR display.
