UPDATE 2/7/19: Ok I've made my final decision on this monitor. I decided to return it for a refund as I believe this new 5K2K theme is not ready for prime time. As I continued to use it, other issues (in addition to panel/backlight issues) became more apparent. For example, the smallest text is displayed on the screen with a small frame around it. Despite what I read beforehand, I decided to buy a monitor. Luckily for me, it was pretty much a plug and play experience. Everything was magical with the included Thunderbolt cable from my MBP to the monitor. Basically I now use the back of the monitor as a docking station and run the keyboard etc from the back. I use it for work from home and it was a good choice. The large screen allows me to work with several applications at the same time. Really great display for productivity. While this feels more like ultra-wide 4K than true 5K, I knew what it entailed. I'm designing for a living room and desktop/monitor space has always been an issue. This monitor gives you enough space to open 2 programs side by side without feeling cramped. The brightness isn't very bright, but I can easily use this in a brightly lit room, and glare isn't an issue either. The only thing, combined with my M1 Mac Mini, the max resolution made the onscreen UI way too small, and the next highest resolution available made everything too big. For my Mac Studio, I wanted a little more screen real estate as I often work with two apps side by side. After discussing the possibility of using two separate 27 inch monitors side by side, I decided to investigate an "ultrawide" monitor. In a word: I like it, they returned it because it's flat. If you don't need a curved monitor, this is an incredible purchase. I had no setup issues or resolution issues. One of the most important parts here is making sure you are using DP and NOT HDMI and that your GPU can drive it. DP stats are also tied to the map. Colors are vibrant, brightness is amazing and picture quality is fantastic. On a Mac, the default is 2560x1080, which I find awful as I'm used to the iMac 27"5k

Even at 2 months of age, blue lines do not appear on one side. I have been in contact with Amazon and lG, nobody has done anything very sad that I want to surprise my husband with a beautiful gift and this happens and you cannot fix it.

The Thunderbolt port stopped working after a year. It worked well and one day broke down out of nowhere. I will try to avoid LG products in the future.

It's ultra wide, 4k, and (almost) half the price when I got it. At first I had problems with the setup. When the display port was connected, the computer did not capture the monitor. Very fragile. The frame does not cover the edges of the panel. Any pressure applied into the large gap between the end of the panel and the beginning of the bezel will permanently damage the panel.

I bought it with my Apple 27" iMac Pro with Retina 5K display. The screen is not as bright and sharp as the iMac. Belongs to my work place. However, recently the screen started flickering and about a day later it lights up it didn't work at all after the first launch.The reason I'm giving this one star is the total lack of support.into the manual and although I have a read receipt LG hasn't responded within 2 weeks.

Edit: The font issue turned out to be a graphics card issue, not a monitor issue. Looks good provided the smaller monospaced fonts aren't clear as they are in a rainbow like color rather than all black. I think it's called colored moiré.
