Dropped at some point during transport
Filter was dented on side of flange I wasn't expecting to see this when I took it out of the box but at the time I was in the middle of an oil change and had to use it and hope for the best. I received the filter about a month before I needed to use it and just took it out of the mailer and put the box on the shelf without pulling it out to check. Luckily it doesn't leak, but I'll check them out next time before the next one bites my ass.
