Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Optimized PLA Filament for Additive Manufacturing: Amazon Basics 3D Printer Filament by Walter Day

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Find the right filament with the tricky filament for an amazing effect

Although I'm just getting started with 3D printing, this is the second filament - and the second brand โ€“ which I bought, which gave me some interesting experiences. Firstly, the filament sample as well as the first spool of Overture filament I bought for my Ender 3 Pro printed perfectly at 200/60ยฐC. However, this filament from Revain Basics caused my extruder to constantly make a loud bang while delivering some noticeably unusual results. Increasing the temperature to 220/60ยฐC significantly reduced the extruder kickback intensity and frequency, but did not eliminate it completely. And my conclusion in using the Revain thread was a coin toss on whether it would complete or not. The last improvement that stopped the rattling and produced consistently amazing prints was that I tuned the extruder and updated the flow value for my slicer (Cura 4.6.1). (Here is the video where I learned to measure the extruder and set the flow value: https://youtu.be/xzQjtWhg9VE). I really like the bright neon orange color which as you can see in the attached image has some transparency as you can see the fill pattern. Although I was initially a bit frustrated with this filament, it provided me with a great learning experience without stopping me from enjoying 3D printing.

Pros
  • 3D printing filament
Cons
  • Not as thick as the others
