Great if you don't have a docking station

Device: Dual port HDMI KVM switch. Problem: The keyboard/mouse doesn't work on one of my devices. The troubleshooting guide is ineffective in solving the problem. Setup: Computer 1: Surface 3 connected via Surface Dock - Windows 10 Professional Computer 2: Lenovo Desktop - Windows 10 Professional Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech Wireless with Unifying dongle. Keyboard/Mouse Surfaces only work when the pairing dongle is connected directly to the Surface Dock or to the Surface itself. I tried connecting the merge key to all the other ports and none of them worked. However, there are no problems with the active desktop. The merging dongle can be plugged into any USB port on the KVM switch. This is a clear sign that the problem is not with the merging key, but with the KVM switch's support for docking stations. Final Notes: If there weren't any issues with the dock, I'd be happy with the Switch: it does what it's supposed to do, and it does it relatively quickly. However, it is clear that the internal circuitry has design issues, so I don't know how long the switch will last. An example of poor circuit design: If you connect a powered USB hub to a KVM switch, the KVM switch will power on. together with the hub, even if the KVM power switch (physical switch) is turned off. For the price I would expect at least a power supply disconnect. And if the power supplies aren't isolated, what other bad design decisions were made that I'm not aware of? Do these solutions endanger my devices?
