It broke on the way.
So this was the first and only time I locked my registered bags. I did this because I was taking my desktop computer to Ecuador and wanted a little extra security. When I got to my apartment and tried to open my luggage, one of the numbers on the dial pad wasn't moving. It was an agonizing ten minutes trying to figure out what to do. Eventually I used the hammer claw to slide the numbers to my code and was able to open it that way.
