Great set. There is a sandstone that is coarse-grained on one side and fine-grained on the other. You simply switch to your choice for the work at hand. Low tech and smart. There is a bamboo platform, very nice, smooth and well made, and a silicone backing that levels the platform and holds the stone in place. If you are unfamiliar with this process, seek help so you don't waste time getting inside the blade. You can probably find some tutorials on YouTube. But it's actually pretty easy once you know what to do (and what not to do). Just some fresh water and your blade and the right blows in the right direction will do the trick.
