Flattening fix stone is used for leveling of 3000/8000 grit stone. Non-slip bamboo holder keeps everything secure so you never have to worry about the whetstone slipping off the counter. Green and White double sided knife stone: 3000 grit for coarse grinding and 8000 grit for super fine grinding. Easy setting; Excellent quality.

Great set. There is a sandstone that is coarse-grained on one side and fine-grained on the other. You simply switch to your choice for the work at hand. Low tech and smart. There is a bamboo platform, very nice, smooth and well made, and a silicone backing that levels the platform and holds the stone in place. If you are unfamiliar with this process, seek help so you don't waste time getting inside the blade. You can probably find some tutorials on YouTube. But it's actually pretty easy once…

Great for blade maintenance!

I was given 1000/6000 as a starting stone when I first started learning to sharpen and so far I've been fine with it. One thing I learned is that you need the right grit for the right edge. In my case I understand that my 1000/6000 grit stone is a good medium stone but this 3000/8000 is much better for finishing and I prefer regular maintenance. Let me tell you that the 8000 grit gives my blade a nice mirror finish and I find it a little easier than the 6000 grit to cross that line between edge
