This isn't the most stylish of designs, and certainly not the strongest. What it represents is great value from a company that consistently makes great connecting rods. Something like the entry-level Shimano Deore or the SRAM SX series can be compared at this price point, but the Raceface Effect is by far the best choice in terms of aesthetics and durability (the only crank that offers similar value in my opinion offers is the latest descendant of the Truvative ). The effect is easy to install and compatible with both boost and non-boost apps. I've never had a single problem with mine (for over a year). I regularly take a lot of air and take large drops. I'm not exactly a light rider either (185 lbs). Its "slimmed" die-cast look won't go for a beauty prize, and the alloy isn't anything special either. But it works. Really good. You have to spend about a third more to get a decent hollow crank like the new Shimano SLX, but I'm sticking with it because it hasn't let me down.
