2 Gen 2 Prius owners.

I own a Prius 2 Gen 2. I have had to replace the cat on both several times. Both are approaching the 400,000 kilometer mark. Toyota told me that they eat oil and over time it clogs the checkpoint. The first time I did it myself was the hardest. The reason is that I had a heck of a lot of time to remove the 2 bolts holding the CAT to the Prius. I found an easy way online to heat the screws with a blowtorch to loosen them. Believe it or not, the screws came loose very easily afterwards. Now I have to change the gearbox every 2-3 years because of a small problem with oil waste. The screws come off easily without heat now that I do it semi-regularly. Now it takes me an hour to an hour and a half to lift the Prius and swap out the CAT. I used the tube mount screws that came with the kit and it worked great. I cleared the P0420 code and have now driven a few thousand miles with no problems. I even used the original O2 sensor. I see no need to replace it as it's still holding up. Just be careful when you take it off and put it back on so the cord doesn't twist when you fasten it so the cord doesn't twist anymore when tightened. This is a very simple task that any beginner or master can cope with. Save a lot of $$
